Declining an Online Consultation

The following instructions describe the decline process for a patient's Online Consultation™ request. Declining an Online Consultation request allows you to reject the patient's request if the request, for example, requires an office visit, or is otherwise unsuitable for an online setting. Your patient will not be charged if you decline her/his request. For further instructions on setting up the Secure Messaging service, see Setting Up Secure Messaging.

If you are a member of a group site, you will need to access Secure Messaging features from your subsite Practice View menu. Web Site: Your Name, located at the top of the Practice View menu, indicates whether you are working on your site or the group site, as shown below:

To switch from the group Practice View menu to your subsite Practice View menu, click Switch Sites, and then click your name.



To access Secure Messaging:
  1. Go to www.medem.com

  2. Click Physician Login

  3. Log in with your User ID and password

  4. Click Inbox, which is located under Secure Messaging/Online Consultations™ on the Practice View menu
    All features of Secure Messaging may be accessed through the Inbox.
If you have not yet accepted a Secure Messaging Terms of Service, you will now need to accept these Terms of Service to continue.


To reply to an Online Consultation request:

Declining an Online Consultation Request

  1. Log in, if necessary, as above

  2. Click Inbox, which is located under Secure Messaging/Online Consultations™ on the Practice View menu

  3. Click Inbox under Online Consultations

  4. Click the message subject to open that message

  5. Click Decline OC to reject the Online Consultation request

  6. Enter an explanation for declining the Online Consultation request by:

    1. Checking one (or more) standard message(s) to be sent to the patient

    2. Entering text into the Message: field

    By default, your patient will be informed that an Online Consultation is not suitable for the request, and that he/she will not be charged.

  7. Click Send
Your patient will not be charged for the Online Consultation request.
