National surveys show that the majority of patients strongly desire e-mail access to their physician, and nearly half of patients would change physicians for the convenience of e-mail access to a physician. According to a Harris Survey (2001), more than 40 percent of patients indicate that they would pay for online access to their physician.

Online Consultation (OC) allows physicians to securely communicate online with patients and receive payment for their work. OC is a part of Medem's Secure Messaging suite of tools, accessed by patients through the physician's Web site, providing physicians with the ability to securely communicate with patients, other providers, their hospitals and others in the health care industry. With OC, physicians can address growing patient demand for online access to their physicians, and have the option of charging for this online patient care, all on a secure network that is compliant with HIPAA and liability carrier eRisk Guidelines.

It's simple, easy and takes 15 minutes. To get started with Medem's Online Consultation:

1. Go to www.medem.com and click "Physician Login".


2. If you are a new user, register online and you'll be up and running in 15 minutes.


3. If you are already a Medem Network user, enter your User ID and Password as a Returning User.


4. In Practice View, click Online Consultation Setup in the Secure Messaging section.
