Scope of the Policy
Updated April 2005
Our policy covers operational aspects of Web sites, online services, and applications that are defined as "Medem-powered" Web sites. Throughout the policy statement, you will find references to "our" policies and what "we" do. In order to understand exactly what protections our policies afford—and just as importantly, what protections they do not afford—it is necessary to define who "we" are and what is meant by a "Medem-powered Web site."
- "We" refers generally to Medem, Inc. and Medem-E (our non-profit editorial governance corporation) and their staffs, management, and governance bodies.
- "We" does not include any independent medical practice or physician who publishes a Web site that is a Member of the Medem Network.
- A "Medem-powered Web site" refers to any Web site, online service,
or online application, such as Secure Messaging that meets these
criteria:
- It is hosted in Medem data centers or in data centers operated by Medem technology partners.
- The information content it publishes resides in content management databases that are legally owned by Medem, Inc.
- The data it collects are stored in databases that are controlled by Medem, Inc.
- The program logic that determines its behaviors is written or licensed by Medem, Inc. and runs on servers operated by Medem, Inc.
- The user interface by which it is accessed appears in a visual context that visibly indicates it is a "Medem-powered" or "Produced By Medem" site, service, or application, or that it is a "Member of the Medem Network" or has the Medem logo.
