Java Developer/Struts Developer

We are currently searching for Java Developer/Struts Developer to join our team in downtown San Francisco. The successful candidate will work with other members of the team to code enhancements and develop new components for Medem's core applications and services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Java software development using J2EE technologies including JSPs, Servlets, and EJBs, adhering to Sun's Java Coding Guidelines and J2EE design patterns.
- Implement new features/pages/functionality in the architectural style documented and used by the team.
- Participate in design and code reviews throughout the development process. Estimate assigned work effort and be accountable for completion dates.
- Extensive Java coding using Jakarta Struts (and tiles), Log4J. Debugging using the integrated debugger in the Eclipse IDE. Compile and deploy web applications and enterprise applications using Jakarta Ant 1.5.x.
- Work closely with other Engineering team members to ensure quality product rollout.
- Experience in building object-oriented, component based products using design patterns; building J2EE products using J2EE best practices and patterns.
- Experience utilizing web technologies, including HTML, JavaScript, XML/XSL.
- Solid experience developing and deploying n-tier applications within a J2EE application server in a clustered environment.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design and development of distributed products.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
- 3-5 years full lifecycle software development experience.
- BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with UML design. Knowledge of design and development tools including Rational and Eclipse IDE.
- Experience developing and deploying EJBs.
- Knowledge of Weblogic (6.1 - 8.1) as well as open source stack (TomCat, JBoss, Apache) is a great plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively; strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Sun Certified Java Programmer, Sun Certified Java Developer, Sun Certified Web Component Developer, or BEA Certified Developer a plus.
- Experience in the medical industry is a great plus.
- Detail oriented, methodical, process-oriented. Ability to follow instructions closely, work independently, write code conforming to Medem's architectural guidelines.
- Team player with get-it-done attitude who strives for perfection and performs well under pressure.
